Abandon by Cassia Leo

Review:

5 Stars!!

I was so excited when Cassia announced that she was going to be writing Tristan's story. I loved his character while reading the Shattered Hearts series and this was perfect.

In Abandon, we finally get Tristan's story. Finding out his roots explains a whole lot about why he became the guy he is today. The careless, womanizing, doesn't give a crap type of guy...until Senia.

As we all know, Tristan has always been the womanizing man of the group. He never thought twice about the way he treated the woman he slept with, had a new girl on a regular basis. The only girl that was able to stick in his head was Senia. I love Senia and her sass.

This was a story that was actually a bit more emotional than I thought it would be...I say that in a good way.  The way Tristan grew up, the mother he had was so heartbreaking. His mother was honestly a POS and even years later he still had to put up with her crap. A drug using, selfish, careless mother.

I need to write a small paragraph describing Tristan's mother. Elaine is someone that needs to get a well deserved punch to the face. She ditches her two children with her mother (which is a good thing) so she can go have a life doing drug, having sex and who knows what else. The only reason she would come around is because she would need something...she is just a horrible person and it really made me love Tristan more than he made something of himself after having her as a mother.

Tristan's story really got to me. He really is a kind hearted guy. When it comes to his family, meaning his sister and his grandmother, he would go above and beyond to protect them. Senia quickly becomes a part of his family and he instantly cares for her the same way.

I know this review is a bit all over the place but it was such an emotional read that I am left with a scattered brain. I loved everything about this book. Tristan and Senia's growing relationship, the adorable banter, the cutest games of hide and seek and the meanings of tattoos will stick with you.

Cassia will once again instantly pull you in. Her writing always flows perfectly giving you the perfect about of romance, sexy scenes, humor and swoony moments. This along with all the other books she has written is a must read. I loved this so much and cant wait to read more of Cassia's work. She is truly one of my favorite authors ever.

Review
4.5 Stars!

“My secrets were mine to carry, not anyone else’s. I would not drag anyone else down with me. My secrets would remain that way for the rest of my life.”

This was a beautiful and an emotional read.  A story about a girl who has survived 16 years of torture. Of pain and suffering. Taken on a journey or survival, healing, love and first….

First, if rape is a sensitive subject for you, this may not be a book for you. There are scenes where the main characters is raped and the author does an amazing job at keeping it real. Rape is a real thing that happens to woman like this character on a daily basis. It is not something be to taken lightly and I think this is a great story for even those who have suffered from this type of tragic event in their own past. I really believed the author kept things true and you truly feel the emotions from this poor character.

Kayla Williams has not been able to live a normal life. She has spent the last 16 years in fear, looking around corners, never being able to feel free. After one horrific night when she was 12 years old, her life was forever changed.  With a big family of 7 brothers and 3 sisters, she isolated herself causing a strain on her family. She couldn’t tell them what was happening to her while they were in the house. She could be the reason for their hurt but she also couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t put a stop to this….why she was going through all of this with all these people to protect her…why couldn’t they see?

Jason Gold is a detective. He ends up at the Williams house for a party in honor of his parents. He is an extremely good guy…one of the few left. When he sees Kayla for the first time, his life is instantly changed…he can see the light shining through the dark clouds of his past. He has to know her but there is something about her, she is broken, and he is determined to be the one to fix her.

Their relationship starts off as business but even though Kayla has always been afraid of men, Jason has something about him that is able to make her relax, to feel, it scares the crap out of her but she knows she needs him, he is the only one that helps the nightmares go away, makes her feel safe. Jason too needs Kayla, with his past he never thought he could be in a relationship but Kayla is like no other.

“My eyes stayed on his and I lost myself in their amazing depths. Jason was my anchor in the stormy seas. I don’t know how he managed it, but he helped me find faith in others again…in men.”

I loved these two characters. What Kayla has gone through was so horrific. Years and years alone, living in fear, I hurt for her. I fell in love with Jason instantly. He was just such a man but also so loving and caring. I could feel how he cared for her. His emotions were so strong. He was the perfect person for Kayla. Protective, possessive, patient, loving, caring and hot. He always said the right things, always knew how to help Kayla, how to bring her back to the here and now when her past would catch up to her.

Kayla broke my heart. The way she felt so worthless, so broken and unworthy of a normal life. She didn't think anyone she have to deal with her problems. Even though she went through so much, she was such a strong woman. Not seeing that herself, Jason was right there to help, to make her know that her past is going to just that…past. She can have any kind of future she wants. She is a beautiful, strong and intelligent woman.

“I see you now before it has even been solved. I see beauty, strength and courage. When I look at you, I smile. I don’t see a victim of a heinous crime. I see a woman I would very much to get to know and earn her trust.”

Jason…such an amazing man. This read takes you on such an emotional ride. You want nothing more for Kayla to live, to feel free. There was so much pain in this book and so well written that you feel you are in the book. The two main characters capture you heart and you want to do anything to save them.

There were a few parts in the book that confused me. More like timelines but it doesn't affect anything too much. At one point it says weeks when I thought something was only a day, but, like I said, it wont really bother your reading.

There is a happy ending to this story but it continues in to book 2 Fantasy Attraction. This story is Carson’s story (Kayla’s brother). From what I read so far it is the trial for what has happened to Kayla.
One this I will say is I think the book needs a better cover. The wording is a bit blah and people will be more attracted to the book if it was different.

I highly recommend this book. A great read and I am very excited to read more from this author.

Excerpt (Kayla’s Flashback)
Kayla, your brothers are watching you while your dad and I attend this banquet dinner. Your sisters are at Aunt Lucy‟s for the weekend. Keep an eye on things, please. All the boys are together, you know how messy that can get. Jake and Carson should be calling to let us know when they will be home. Can you please write the message down and leave it on the fridge?” my mom said to me.
Jane Williams was a beautiful woman. Many say she could pass for a model even now. I could remember hearing several of my brothers‟ friends saying those words when they met our mom for the first time.
“Yes, ma‟am.” I said rolling my eyes. Nothing I hated more than being told how to do the obvious things. I knew how to answer the phone and take a message, as well as where to put it.
“You‟re sure you don‟t want to go to Aunt Lucy‟s? We could drop you off on our way.”
“Yes, mom. I would rather stay here. I have a project to work on anyway.”
I didn‟t like going to Aunt Lucy‟s. She was a little out there in an odd way, and I much preferred to stay at home when my sisters went over there. They did all the girlie things; I was happier just getting muddy and climbing trees.
“Okay, love you guys! Behave yourselves, boys, and keep an eye on your siste,r please,” Jane yelled as she headed out the door on my father‟s arm.
“Eli, do you have some time to help me with a school project?”
I loved all my siblings, but I had bonded most with Elijah and Jake. They were overprotective but I still loved them.
“Can we work on it tomorrow, Kay? We‟re going to have some friends over and play some pool.”
I forced a smile, trying hard to hide my disappointment at not being able to spend time with my brothers, who were home on break
“Sure,” I said. “I will stay in my room and out of the way.” He hugged me and I headed to my room.
My room was simple. I had a daybed up against one wall. Across from the bed was a built-in entertainment center with shelves for all my favorite books and movies. There was a built-in desk at the far end of my room, and a walk in closet that had more than enough room for all my clothes and shoes. I even had my own bathroom. It wasn‟t huge, but it was big enough for a bathtub/shower, a sink with vanity, and a toilet. I didn‟t have to share it with my brothers or sisters, and that was all I cared about. There was nothing about my room that screamed „girlie;‟ the walls were beige and the carpet was white. The linens were lilac, as were the curtains. I loved my room; it was peaceful, relaxing, and easy to stay focused on my studies. I sat down at my desk and started working on my homework assignment.
Music started playing loudly from downstairs. I slowly made my way to the top of the grand staircase. When I got to the banister, I saw a room full of people. My brothers were hamming it up big time for the girls there. I sighed heavily and shook my head at my brothers‟ actions. Judging by the amount of people and their laughter and music, I knew it was going to be loud for a while. So I made my way back to my room, turned on the radio, put my headphones on and went back to work on the project.
A few hours later, it was late and I was tired, so I decided to call it a night. The music was still going downstairs, so I knew the only way I was going to get any sleep was if I switched to my wireless headphones and wore them to bed. After changing for bed and brushing my teeth, I crawled in bed and fell asleep in no time.
Unsure of how long I was sleeping when my bedroom light came on. I sat up and tried to get my eyes to adjust to the light. Through the blur I thought I saw my brother in the doorway.
“Jeez, Nick! I was sleeping, you know?”
I rubbed my eyes, and when I looked back the door was being locked. It was not my brother after all. Instead it was a man about the height of my brother, with a buzzed head and average frame, though it was apparent that he worked out. He wore a tank top with a vest over it, revealing several tattoos lining his arms and neck. His jeans were baggy and sagged from his waist. He had three piercings - two silver hoops in his ears that that caught the light from my room when he walked, and the other in his lip. He moved closer to me, and I noticed that his eyes were dark - almost black. He walked with the confidence that he owned the world and had a smile on his face that sent chills down my spine.
“Umm, you need to leave my room,” I said, trying to keep the fear from my voice.
“My name is Alex. I am a friend of your brother, Carson. I take it he is not coming home tonight?” His voice was low and had a menacing tone as he spoke.....

Excerpt (Jason’s POV)
I was just walking up to the front of the house when I froze in my spot. Staring at the sight before me, I watched as a woman came running from the house. Her long, brown, curly hair was flying like silk in the wind behind her as she ran. It was like watching her in slow motion.
She was breathtaking. She had perfect opulent curves, not pencil thin like most women these days think they need to be. As she ran, her perfect size breasts were bouncing along. Just looking at her was making my cock stir in my pants. I watched as she made her way down the steps trying to get her shoes off. She was down on the walk, struggling with her other shoe when she started to fall. I ran in to catch her. Her hair fell into her face as I cradled her in my arms.
For the first time in a long time, as I held this woman in my arms, I had a feeling of peace come over me. Something about this woman called to me. She wasn‟t the normal type that I took to bed when I was frustrated. She was different. I can‟t put my finger on why, but I wanted to get to know her better; a lot better. She wiggled and her breasts rubbed against my chest and I had to bite back a groan. I knew it had been a while since I had been with a woman but this was ridiculous. No woman has ever affected me like this one. Instead of making me want to run away, I wanted to get closer.
Jeez, you fucking pervert!

About the Author
Hey Y'all! PJ here. You want to know a little about me. Well I live in Indiana with my husband of ten years, our three kids, and two dogs.  I love writing and reading in any spare time that I have.  I have been writing for as long back as I can remember, but I put it aside for a while. There are many reasons I did that but mostly it just wasn't time for me to really push it, I think. My oldest son is an inspiration. He is autistic and the view he has on life is astounding. He doesn't let the bullies or negative reaction to him slow him down. My daughter loves to read just like her mama and my youngest son is a complete copy of his father it's scary LOL. My family has gone from one extreme to another weather wise. We lived in Alaska to move to Georgia. Big weather difference. Each day I view as a blessing. Make your dreams come true today because none of us are promised tomorrow. Hugs to all and many blessings.

Excerpt:

I give Sean a weak smile and pull him towards me. I kiss him deeply. And I can feel the immediate surprise course though his body. But the surprise doesn’t stop him and it doesn’t take much to get him going. He instantly falls into action, running his large hands up and down my back. Kissing my neck then trailing his tongue down toward my breasts.

I let my mind drift as his mouth wanders. Off to the past. To the time when Sean used to woo me by playing my favorite songs for hours on end. The lyrics talking about being with me until the end of time flow through my memory as Sean continues his languid journey stopping at all the places he knows too well to get just the desired response from me. He kisses and I shift. He licks and I sigh. He strokes and I arch. All the while my body goes from sensation to sensation while my mind is at war going from memory to memory. Pleasure to pain. Opening doors to rooms that I don’t want to see. Images that I’m too afraid to face.

“Baby, where are you?”

I look up. Surprised to see Sean above me. Eyes filled with worry and questions. A part of me wants to close my own eyes and turn away, but I don’t. I face him straight on. “I’m here. Right here.” I give him a smile then angle up to kiss him.
Going deep putting my hand between our bodies and guiding him to my center. He fills me and I let my eyes close. Shutting one door and opening another. Letting him in fully and completely. Mind on the future.

Synopsis
Moving to Miami was supposed to be enough distance from her family and her past, but Paige Kerimov can’t seem to get them out of her head. A year of self-induced solitude, nothing but school, Paige reluctantly starts to let people back into her life, including one person in particular; the insistent and attractive Brady Quinlan with whom she is paired for a project that will impact her major. She has no choice but to work with him, no matter how tough that makes it to deny her attraction to him.
As Paige lets her guard down, remnants of a violent past and a tragic history start to resurface and Brady knows she is hiding something. He tries to figure her out, but she can’t let him see when the truth is that she isn’t sure if she’s in danger from anything other than herself

Excerpt
A single tear drop defies me and leaks out of my right eye, traveling a jagged path down my cheek. Brady takes his hand off of mine and wipes the tear away with one finger, then cups the side of my face and pulls me a little bit closer to him. “Don’t be sad, Paige. I’ve grieved already. I will always miss her, but I have wonderful memories of my mother to take with me.” I close my eyes and lean into his hand without thinking. I’m sad for him, yes, but I also want to know why he can speak of his dead mother with such maturity when I can’t stop conjuring the image of my dead sister. And I’m a selfish bitch for being jealous of his acceptance. When I open my eyes again, he is looking at me with intent. His thumb moves to stroke my bottom lip and a tiny sigh escapes my throat. The table between us is quite narrow and there is so little distance keeping me from kissing him. It scares me. I feel like a bucket of ice water is being poured over my head and I snap back in my seat with such suddenness that I knock my bag over and the contents spill out on the floor under the table. Brady is still poised there with his hand extended, but the look on his face says he is disappointed. He recovers in record time and we both bend down to retrieve my things. I shove my clothing back in the bag and then I sit up too fast and smack the back of my head on the hard surface of the table. It stuns me and makes my vision swim for a minute, but I still see what is laying on the floor. The package I received earlier must not have been sealed properly because the contents have made their way onto the floor. The necklace my sister always wore, a platinum heart pendant with her Garnet birthstone in the center, is sticking out of the envelope. It is dirty; covered in a substance that I believe is dried blood, and a note is attached. The red lipstick from the mirror was used to spell out ‘I will always find you’. heartdividerPost
